gfx_45_facultyEileen Smee remembers...Dr. R.H. White

Dr. R.H. White, who taught American literature, was much loved by students. He greeted each one as they came into his class asking, "What's your name, where is home, how many in your family," etc. The next class meeting he would ask you again. Twice during the semester, he would dismiss half of the class with instructions to return in 20 minutes. Then he took each remaining student one at a time to his desk asking, "How are you doing? Are you working? How are your folks at home? What problems are you having?"

In one visit with me, he said someone had told him I wasn't getting enough sleep. So he suggested I not come to class for the next two weeks but go to the dorm and have a nap. I did just as he suggested! He loved the subject he taught and would often become emotional over the passage he was reading aloud. It made me love the passages he read. What a wonderful gentleman!

Bud Smee and his first impressions of Pasadena College

The three things which immediately impressed me upon coming to Pasadena College were the friendly attitude everyone has for his fellows here, the deep spiritual atmosphere about the school, and the social advantages which this institution offers to its students. The friendly spirit in all sports, activities, and classes, the spiritual nature of the chapel services, student prayer meetings, the possibility of meeting with the students in social affairs and enjoying ourselves in a Christian environment, has all combined to make this school the most enjoyable of my life.
