2000 Campus mourns the loss of Dana Walling.

gfx_00_WallingDana Walling developed a rare form of cancer. Early treatment seemingly eradicated the disease, but Walling never fully recovered. Within months, it returned, this time devastatingly swift. The energetic vice president for Spiritual Development on campus and spiritual leader around the world visibly deteriorated weekly. In the summer of 2000, confined to a wheelchair and virtually unable to speak, he insisted on attending a youth rally on campus. There, with the aid of his son, he spoke to the young people his last public words: "Every day find what you can do for Jesus, and do it." Two weeks later he was gone. Some leaders are replaceable, and some are not. Walling could never be replaced.
