President's Charge

President Brower’s Charge to the Task Force

Preface:

A Core Value identified in the documents on Mission for Point Loma Nazarene University is the institutional value for the “Stewardship of Resources.” One aspect of that value is the university’s response to more effectively promote the care and keeping of natural resources, particularly those we have influence upon in our immediate setting. In response to this value, a university-wide effort is underway to assist the community in addressing aspects of resource stewardship in a meaningful way that is sustainable over time. Therefore, the following goals of a Resource Stewardship Task Force are presented to guide this work toward this institutional value.

Goals:

  • To identify and promote university-wide awareness and dialogue regarding our responsibilities to be good stewards of resources.
  • To review and propose recommendations to refine the recycling and Resource Stewardship Program (RSP) of the university.
  • To identify the communication needs for informing the university community about the RSP and promoting its successful operation.
  • To promote the operation and sustaining of a successful RSP throughout the university by recommending strategies to achieve RSP goals.
  • To develop in members of the PLNU community  through presentation and dialogue a desire to be lifelong stewards of the earth.
The Ad Hoc Taskforce is appointed annually to promote the progress and refinement of a sustaining Resource Stewardship effort.
