Adjunct faculty are invited to participate in all facets of PLNU community life. That includes: the faculty lunch program, commencement, faculty lectures, and sporting and cultural events. Most of these activities are free to faculty members and their families.
The official academic calendar is published in the annual Undergraduate Catalog and on the Web . It is drafted by the Vice Provost for Academic Administration and adopted by the Administrative Cabinet.
The Master Calendar contains information concerning academic life, social events, special interest group meetings, intramural and intercollegiate sports events, and other cultural activities. The master calendar is maintained in the office of the Vice President for Student Development and is posted on the Web.
When planning any activity, faculty should refer to both of these calendars to avoid conflicts as far as possible. The Director of Community Life acts as a clearinghouse for these activities.
The Alert , a bulletin published online each Monday in the Community Life Office, is an official communication of the University and should be read regularly by both the faculty and students. It contains many vehicle announcements of vital interest to all persons associated with Point Loma Nazarene University
Announcements must be submitted online and must be received by the Community Life Office no later than noon on the Friday for publication on the next Monday. No personal or non-University related material may be printed in the Alert . Announcements can be posted for up to two consecutive weeks.
Chapel services are held from 9:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Services are generally inspirational worship experiences and are required of all full-time students and full-time faculty members. Adjunct faculty are also invited to attend.
While there is a student phone directory published each semester by the Associated Student Body, faculty are encouraged to obtain phone numbers from their students in the event they need to contact students outside class time.
