X. PROMOTION AND TENURE PROCESS
  1. Recommendations for Promotion and Tenure
Each year the President presents to the Board of Trustees a list of all faculty members recommended for promotion or tenure. To assist the President in making an evaluation, each college dean is to submit, in accord with the procedures noted below, a recommendation for those faculty members being considered for promotion or tenure. That recommendation is to include evaluations of the faculty member by students, the department chair/school dean, a peer and a self-evaluation.

  2. Promotion and Tenure Procedures
See the PLNU Faculty Handbook (Rank and Promotion Standards, Promotion Procedures, and Tenure - chapter IV, sections N, O, and P).

  3. Norms for Evaluation
Evaluations of the performance of candidates for promotion and tenure should center on the following areas:
  1. Commitment to Christ and Christian higher education.
  2. Commitment to teaching excellence.
  3. Scholarly/professional pursuits.
  4. Service to various communities, including contributions to the department/school, the University at large, students, the church, and the civic community.
