Email and voice-mail accounts are available to all students. Instructors wishing to contact their students via email should specify on their syllabus their intent to do so. This will give the students notice to activate their account. Students in residence halls can connect to the campus network to read their mail if they have computers robust enough to do so. Students are provided with information on connecting to the network when they check in to the residence halls. Student ResCons (Residential Computing Consultants) are available to assist students with this process. All students can send and receive email in the computer labs.

Media Services provides educational support to the faculty and students of Point Loma Nazarene University. Faculty are encouraged to use Media Services as a resource in planning their instruction. Students may use the facilities to complete assignments or view additional media materials housed in the facility.

Media Services houses a variety of audiovisual materials, such as videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, CDs, and cassettes, to name a few. Faculty may check out these materials for a period of a week. Students may use these materials within the Media Services facilities only. Media materials may be searched through the PLNU library catalog, Phineas.

Media Services provides each department/school with a budget allocation to purchase media materials. Each department/school should designate one member of the department/school for media purchases.

A preview room is located in Media Services. Faculty wishing to preview media materials may use this room.

All media equipment is obtained through this office. Requests are scheduled and served on a first-come, first-served basis. Faculty requesting media equipment and/or materials need to make the requests a minimum of 24 hours in advance notice of the class. If an operator is required, requests must be made at least two days in advance. Media Services staff will make every effort to meet last-minute requests with resources available, but priority is to serve academic clients and events scheduled first.

Media Services is also responsible for sound support for all campus events. If a sound system is needed, arrangements should be made no less than two days preceding the event to insure proper setup.
