Biography


Keith Bell grew up on the east coast and attended Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) in Quincy, Massachusetts, where he earned the bachelor's degree in Modern Languages. Before rejoining the ENC family, he earned the master's degree in Spanish from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. After serving three years on the faculty of his Alma Mater, he moved to Olathe, Kansas, in 1968 to join the pioneer faculty of a newly organized MidAmerica Nazarene University. While there, he held a variety of positions besides his responsibilities as faculty member, including Director of Admissions, Director of Institutional Research, Registrar, and Vice President for Academic Affairs. While at MidAmerica, he earned the Ph.D. in Spanish with a specialization in Latin American Literature at the University of Oklahoma, Norman.

In 1992, Dr. Bell left MidAmerica after 24 years to join the Point Loma Nazarene University faculty. As Professor of Spanish, he has also been Chair of the Department of Literature, Journalism, and Modern Languages, as well as his current position as Vice Provost for Academic Administration.

Dr. Bell and his wife, Lois, live in San Diego and have three children and eight grandchildren: Francesca Loren, Brannon Keith, Adrienne Olivia, Isabella Marie, Braelee Jadyn, Carmine Andrew, Leila Gabrielle, and Bayler Matthew.


Responsibilities


The Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Administration exists to provide quality systems support for the university, including the areas of records and registration, institutional research, learning services, academic policy implementation (Web site posting, University catalogs, Faculty Handbook), academic advising and monitoring services related to students' progress toward the completion of degrees, logistical assistance for academic convocations, accreditation coordination, and on-going partnering with the Office of the Provost and Chief Academic Officer.

As Vice Provost for Academic Administration, Dr. Bell serves the university in the following capacities:
