What a pleasure it is for me to offer congratulations to you as a member of this year's graduating class. This is a tremendous accomplishment, and I salute you for your determination to reach this wonderful goal.

Higher education in the context of a faith-based institution like Point Loma Nazarene University is a unique and valuable experience in today's world. I hope you have sensed the difference that we claim as a Christian university intent on the highest possible quality in teaching and scholarship. It has been our earnest desire to teach you, shape you, and now send you from this place.

For some of you, this is perhaps the end of a journey in your formal education. For others, it will be yet another stepping stone to more study and preparation.For all our graduates, this certainly is not an end but a beginning. That's why we call it Commencement, after all.

As you leave Point Loma Nazarene University, I trust you will go with a deeper faith in Jesus Christ, a broader understanding of the world in which you will serve, and a community of forever friends.
