Individuals also hire financial experts for purposes including financial planning, obtaining loans, making investments, and purchasing property. If you are good with numbers, have strong communication skills, and are interested in the role of finances in corporate, nonprofit and individual arenas, finance may be the right concentration for you.


Overview


Point Loma offers a major in business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship/finance through our Fermanian School of Business. You will be able to take courses in investment, money and banking, small businesses, real estate, and nonprofit management, as well as accounting, marketing, economics, and other business-related classes. PLNU’s Fermanian School of Business provides quality preparation for a number of finance careers, integrating theory, technology and practice. There is also a strong emphasis on ethics and real world preparation.

Business administration grads who have concentrated in finance have gone on to careers and graduate school. You may want to consider as career as a: financial analyst, budget analyst, financial planner, loan consultant or loan officer, financial manager, CFO, insurance underwriter, real estate professional, or stockbroker.

When you are ready to enter the workforce, Point Loma will have you well prepared. Highly respected firms in San Diego and throughout the world (i.e. Teledyne Ryan, IBM, Sheraton Hotels, Science Applications International, McDonnell-Douglas, Bank of America, Ernst and Young, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Internal Revenue Service, etc.) have actively recruited and hired graduates of the Fermanian School of Business.
