Music & Ministry

Department of Music

Has worship always been your favorite part of a church service? Leaders in the area of music ministry have a passion for worship and a desire to allow God to work in others' lives as a conduit for His Spirit. Students who want to minister through music will be involved in a program that fosters personal growth and community service.

Overview

PLNU offers several majors in the Department of Music, including music, composition, music & ministry, music education, and vocal, piano, and instrumental performance. The core curriculum for all music majors is the same and includes courses in music history, music theory, world music, and faith, life, and music.

Earning a B.A. in music & ministry requires courses in worship ministry, instrumental worship, hymnology, and more. In addition, it requires an internship. It is also recommended that students earn a minor in youth ministry, theatre, communication, or media communication.
