Department of History and Political Science Department of Sociology and Social Work
Students wishing to go to law school upon graduation have the option of taking courses towards any major they desire. But those students should have a broad background of liberal arts studies, with emphasis placed on political science and sociology. Students are also encouraged to contact pre-law advisors early in their academic careers.
Overview
PLNU's pre-law cooperative programs are co-advised by Dwayne L. Little and D. Michael McKinney, who is a practicing attorney. Faculty members are available to advise and encourage students, write recommendation letters, facilitate entrance exams and practice interviews, and critique application materials. The program also helps students prepare by bringing speakers to the university in small-group settings. Guests include law school admissions officers, practicing attorneys, judges, and others involved in legal careers. Assistance is also available for students of any major or area of study that have an interest paralegal, government, or other law-related arenas.
