Department of Biology
Students wishing to go to dental or medical school upon graduation have the option of taking courses towards any major they desire. However, most schools encourage a broad liberal arts background, focusing specifically on behavioral and natural sciences, the humanities, and mathematics.
Overview
PLNU's pre-dental and pre-med cooperative programs are presided over by Kerry D. Fulcher, Ph.D, chair of the biology department. Admission to medical school does require one year each of general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, and physics, and one semester of calculus. Faculty members are available to advise and encourage students, write recommendation letters, facilitate entrance exams and practice interviews, and critique application materials.
