Vision Statement:
Learning Services commits to fulfill our ongoing role as partners in the teaching, research, and service missions of Point Loma Nazarene University.
Mission Statement:
Learning Services in striving to realize our vision, and desiring to facilitate a spiritually examined life, is dedicated to the following:
- Educating students and faculty in the most effective methods of identifying and acquiring information resources to meet their curricular and research needs.
- Promoting information literacy.
- Utilizing innovative technology in support of services.
- Providing information access and public service for our constituents.
- Collecting and maintaining resources in support of curricular programs, general research, emotional, cultural and spiritual development, and new areas of program development.
- Establishing links to an increasingly global body of knowledge.
- Maintaining a high standard of service in a welcoming environment.
- Providing leadership in the development of information policy for Point Loma Nazarene University.
- Fostering life-long critical thinking.
Sustaining Goals:
The following set of sustaining goals guides the Learning Services in fulfilling its mission. Each of the five sustaining goals is of equal importance to this end. They are broad strokes to be fleshed out at the department and unit levels into specific implementation plans and actions. Some of the strategic directions are not new for Learning Services, but deserve renewed emphasis and attention in our continued efforts to serve our constituency.

- Collect and maintain resources in support of the University’s teaching, research, and service missions.

- Create and maintain a physical environment conducive to study, research, and job performance.
