Faculty-Run Trips Connected to Courses 1996-2006
Other International Studies programs include those that are designed by PLNU professors and attached to specific courses, as travel learning modules. Students are not necessarily required to attend the trip in order to do the course and can instead opt to do a paper or some other piece of work. These guided trips are often, however, particularly focused academic experiences since they attach very directly to course material and are usually done with a group of people who have become a learning community over the semester. Listed below are the trips that attached to particular courses or departments.
SU 98 – Kenya (Biology and Christian Tradition) – M. Mooring, D. Strawn, D. Whitelaw and M. Zack
SP 00 – England (Mathematics) – M. Zack
SU 01 – Italy (POL 321 & HIS 307)
SU 01 – Europe (Athletic Training) L. Kugler
SP 02 – England (Mathematics) – M. Zack
SU 02 – East Asia (POL 391)
SU 02 – France (FRE 315) – H. Wood
SU 03 – Europe (Athletic Training) – L. Kugler
SU 03 – England (Literature) – R. Hill
SU 03 – Belize (Education) – T. Morano
SP 04 – England (Mathematics) – M. Zack
SU 05 – China (Asian Studies) – K. Archer
SU 05 – British Isles (Literature) – R. Hill
SU 05 – South Africa (Sociology) – Jamie Gates
SP 06 – Greece (History) – R. Kennedy
SP 06 – England (Mathematics) – M. Zack
What is particularly significant is that one third of these trips (5 of 16) are to countries other than Western European nations. PLNU is particularly interested in helping our students discover cultures other than ones that might seem familiar.
