Academic Scholarships
2006-2007 Incoming Freshmen

To be eligible for selection, first-time freshman must be offered admission to Point Loma Nazarene University, and submit an official seven-semester transcript of the applicant’s year of graduation. Criteria for the qualification of an academic scholarship consists of a 3.700 weighted GPA, and 1200 or higher SAT (combined math and critical reading) or 26 or higher ACT.

Below are the following academic scholarships:

National Merit Scholarships                                               $4,000
National Merit Finalists are eligible for a $4,000 scholarship at PLNU in addition to any of the following academic scholarships listed below. Candidates should contact their Admissions Counselor immediately after being notified of their “Finalist” status. This scholarship is renewable with a 3.500 GPA at PLNU.   

President’s Scholarship                                                      $11,000
A total of 30 President’s Scholarships will be awarded to first-time freshmen for the 2006-2007 Academic Year. Applicants must submit an official seven-semester transcript by February 1st to receive this award. This scholarship is renewable with a 3.500 GPA at PLNU.

Trustee’s Scholarship                                                         $7,000
A total of 45 Trustee’s Scholarships will be awarded to first-time freshmen for the 2006-2007 Academic Year. Applicants must submit an official seven-semester transcript by February 1st to receive this award. This scholarship is renewable with a 3.500 GPA at PLNU.

Provost’s Scholarship                                                         $4,000
A total of 110 Provost’s Scholarships will be awarded to first-time freshman for the 2006-2007 Academic Year. Transfer students with 11 or less units from another institution are eligible for this scholarship with a 3.700 high school GPA and 1200 SAT (combined math and critical reading) or 26 or higher ACT.  Transfer students with 12 to 23 units from another institution with the above high school criteria, and a 3.400 unevaluated college transcript GPA are eligible for this scholarship. Transfer students with 24 or more units from another institution are eligible for this scholarship with a 3.400 unevaluated college transcript GPA. This scholarship is renewable with a 3.400 GPA at PLNU.
