GSC Minutes:  10/11/05

VII. Opening prayer:  Maggie Bailey.

VIII. Minutes from 09/13/05:  Regarding the WASC Academic Plan, Maria notes that Bob wants us to rewrite the description of criterion 5 with special attention to bullet 5.4.

IX. Preview of Major Revision of MBA from cohort model to core elective model.  Maggie handed out program review with financial analysis, revisions to graduate catalog, & the actual proposals.  We will be talking about these proposals at the next GSC meeting.

X. Discussion of Draft Vision Statement for Graduate Programs (Darrel):  What is the process?  Will this document be presented to the faculty?  Yes, as part of larger WASC document.  Maria comments that this document should reflect institutional vision statement.  Is the purpose actually a mission statement?  Does it fit with the institutional mission statement?  Should a sub-committee deal with this or the whole group?  Maggie notes that the document should align graduate mission/vision/core values with institutional ones, and she volunteers to work on that document and then bring it back to this group.  Should the process of using assessment data to improve be clarified/expanded? Yes.
