Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

The Animal Care and Use Committee is responsible for overseeing the use of vertebrate animals in all education research programs in the university. Accordingly, IACUC This oversight shall include the initiation and review of institutional guidelines to ensure that federal and state requirements for the care and use of vertebrate animals are met. This committee reports to the Provost.

The duties of the committee shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

1. Review all activities involving the care and use of vertebrate animals at the institution and all its teaching locations.

2. Review all proposed new research projects or proposed significant changes in ongoing research projects involving the care and use of vertebrate animals, with the authority to approve or withhold approval of the projects or changes.

3. Inspect at least once every six months the program of the college for humane care and use of vertebrate animals, using federally mandated regulations for the basis of evaluation.
