Standards of Conduct for Employees

University personnel who perform any procurement functions on behalf of the University shall abide by the following standards of conduct:

  1. No employee shall solicit or accept any gift, regardless of the type or amount, from or on behalf of a vendor, where it can reasonably be inferred that the gift is intended to influence the employee in procuring goods or services from that vendor.

  1. No employee shall disclose information about a vendor or vendor’s prices, if that information is not available to the public, to vendor’s competitors, nor shall the employee use such information for employee’s personal gain or for the benefit of any other person.

  1. No employee shall procure goods or services from any business in which the employee, a member of employee’s family, or another employee of the University has a substantial financial interest.

  1. No employee shall use or attempt to use the employee’s procurement authority to secure or grant unwarranted privileges, exemptions, advantages, contracts, or treatment, for the employee or others.

  1. Above all, employees of the University shall at all times put the interests and objectives of the University above their own, and shall refrain from any actions which constitute, or have even the appearance of, a conflict of interest.
