President’s Corner
Hello everyone and welcome to our new website! I am so excited about all of the possibilities we can explore here and proud to be linked up with the Alumni section of this amazing Universities’ website. A huge thank you goes to the lovely and multi-talented Lindsay Westfall for all of her help in this process. She will be the whiz behind our site and will really help me out with all of the things I don’t understand. Thanks, Lindsay! We could not have done this move without you!
Here are some updates of what is going on with our Auxiliary:
Annual Meeting and Luncheon
Our 2008 luncheon was held on April 26th at the Holiday Inn Laguna Hills and we had a very special day. Barbara Kennedy and her committee did another bang up job with our theme of “Shine”. Lighthouses of all shapes and sizes filled the tables and we were treated to a delicious lunch and dessert.
Our Special speaker this year was Sharon Marshall, founder and director of SCORE and director/coordinator of the Divorce and Grief Recovery program at Crystal Cathedral. She did a beautiful job with our theme of shinning for Jesus and told us how we really DO need each other. We laughed. We cried. We learned and felt drawn to be better people. Thank you, Sharon. You touched our hearts.
The afternoon also included my annual report, an update on our project by Myrna May, our installation of the 2008-2009 executive Board, the Treasurer’s report given by Barbara Hornbeck and a check presentation to Sheryl Smee-who represented the University as well as the Alumni Board. Barb Kennedy made sure we had plenty of door prizes to give away which rounded out our day.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make this day possible and everyone who attended. I am always so proud of you ladies at our luncheon and was proud to show you off to the many new people who attended that day.
Project Update
We are now in the third and final year of our 3 year, $100,000 commitment to the lobby area in the new Smee Religion and Theology building. And, I’m excited to announce that we are at $78,000 raised so far-$12,000 ahead of schedule. Amazing! Hasn’t God been faithful ladies? Our goal is to raise the last $22,000 by April 2009. Let’s keep pushing and working hard and I just know we can do it!
As for Smee Hall, the building is almost complete and will be occupied in a few short weeks. A formal dedication is slated for Homecoming Saturday, 2008. Come visit this beautiful addition to the already amazing campus and walk through the doors of “our” lobby. I’m sure it will be an awesome moment knowing that YOU helped make our $100,000 donation possible!

Homecoming 2008
Our chapters are gearing up for another exciting year at Homecoming. Please come and visit our booth. Everyone works so hard to make items or gather things to sell at them. Help us out by making a purchase-for your self or for a gift. You are helping make our projects possible. Thank you.
And, as always, I thank you so much for your interest and continued support of Women’s Auxiliary, Christian Higher Education, and Point Loma Nazarene University. We would not be the same without you. And, remember, all donations are tax deductible.
Thank you to my Executive Board, who have agreed to another year of service and hard work. Thank you to our Chapter Chairs and each individual member. YOU are this ministry! You make the gifts and donations to the University possible. I love watching God multiply our small offerings and seeing how He turned them into the almost 1.8 million dollars that we have given so far. Amazing.
It is our goal, purpose and desire for our projects to touch every student. Pray for us as we go about the difficult task of choosing our next project. And, pray with us for the staff and students as a new year approaches. May God be glorified in all we say and do and may He bless each and every one of you who stand with us in this endeavor. Thank you for your time, talents, creativity, and hard work. YOU make this ministry what it is and I am blessed by just knowing you.
Blessings,
Kathryn Kietzke
