Each faculty member who submits a proposal must be serving the university on a full-time basis. Funds may be applied to expenses for which there are invoices, receipts, and/or student timecards.
1. Problem is significant.
2. Important terms are defined.
3. Relationship of the problem to previous research is made clear.
4. General problem is clearly described.
5. Specific questions or hypotheses are clearly stated.
6. Assumptions and limitations of the study are described.
7. Research design (plan) is fully described and appropriate for analysis of the problem.
8. Data-gathering methods or procedures are described.
9. Population and sample is described (including any archival/historical/literary material sampled).
10. Validity and reliability of the evidence gathered can be established.
11. Methods for compiling and analyzing the data are appropriate.

1. Statement of the need this project addresses.
2. Important terms are defined.
3. Complete description of the project (scope, sequence of activities, schedule, methods and materials).
4. Adequate project budget, including sources of funds other than Alumni Association Faculty Grant money if needed, to complete the project presented.
5. Contribution to the students of the university.
6. Contribution to the professional background of the professor.
7. Contribution to the university.
8. Well-defined method of evaluating the success of the project.

After completing the Faculty Grant Proposal Cover Sheet, provide a brief description of the project:
- PURPOSE Goals and objectives.
- PROCEDURES Scope of project, methods, materials, and a specific schedule of activities.
- SIGNIFICANCE Contribution to knowledge in the field (research), or contribution to curriculum development at Point Loma Nazarene University, or benefits for the professor, students, and the university.
- FUNDING Please attach a project budget. List other sources of funds (if any). NOTE: Funds may be applied to expenses for which there are invoices, receipts, and/or student timecards.
