1/29 - PLNU dropped their first game of the 2008 season, losing to Cal State San Marcos 9-2 at Carroll B. Land Stadium Tuesday afternoon. Both teams had 11 hits in the game, but the Cougars made the most of theirs, going 5-of-16 with runners in scoring position. The Sea Lions struggled with men on, collecting just one hit in seven at bats. Read More

1/26 - PLNU improved to 3-0 on the season after a doubleheader sweep of Oregon Tech at Carroll B. Land Stadium on Saturday. The Sea Lions outscored the Hustlin' Owls 23-5, winning the opener 14-3 and then closed out the day with a 9-2 win in the nightcap. Read More

PLNU Announces 2008 Recruiting Class

The Sea Lions baseball team announced 2008's recruiting class today. the 10 member class includes four freshmen and six transfers. All are expected to vie for time in 2008 for a PLNU team that has won at least 30 games and qualified for postseason play for the last six seasons. Read More

Three Sea Lions Selected in MLB Draft

Johnnie Lowe, Tony Kirbis and Taylor Cameron were selected in the 2007 Major League Baseball draft. Lowe was a sixth-round pick of the Chicago White Sox, Kirbis was taken by the Baltimore Orioles in the 23rd round and Cameron was grabbed in the 31st round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Read More

MLB Saves King Throws Out 1st Pitch, Sea Lions Win 2-0

MLB's all-time saves leader, Trevor Hoffman, came out to PLNU. The Padre closer threw out the first pitch of Wednesday's game versus San Diego Christian and met with players and fans. PLNU starter Taylor Cameron would not have needed the closer's services, however, tossing nine shutout innings in the Sea Lion's 2-0 win. Read More

Mike Ekstrom Named Padres Minor League Pitcher of the Year

11/13 - Former Point Loma Nazarene hurler, Mike Ekstom, was named as the Padres 2006 minor league Pitcher of the Year. Ekstrom, San Diego's 12th-round selection in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft, began the season at Single-A Lake Elsinore where he went 7-4 with a 2.30 ERA (21 ER/82.1 IP) in 14 starts. His win total tied for the team-high as he helped to lead the Storm to a 36-34 first half record. Read More
