IX concerns have forced Point Loma Nazarene University to eliminate four of its
current athletic teams, athletics director Ethan Hamilton announced. Beginning with the 2010-11 academic year, the university
will no longer field teams for men’s golf, men’s cross country and track and
field, and women’s softball. The university will add women’s golf as an intercollegiate

Ethan Hamilton announced the hiring of Cheryl Schaefer as the softball
program’s interim head coach on Monday. Schaefer, a former PLNU player and a member of
the coaching staff for six seasons, becomes the eighth head coach in the

April 16-- Every year since 2001, the Point Loma Nazarene softball team
has been making the trip Decatur, Alabama, site of the NAIA National
Championships. Over the last four years, Bob and Linda Doherty have served as
official hosts to the Sea Lions as they compete at nationals. PLNU repaid some of the couple's hospitality recently. Read More |
