Cheryl Schaefer Named Interim Head Coach

8/10 - Point Loma Nazarene University Athletic Director Ethan Hamilton announced the hiring of Cheryl Schaefer as the softball program’s interim head coach on Monday. Schaefer, a former PLNU player and a member of the coaching staff for six seasons, becomes the eighth head coach in the softball program’s history. Read More>>

Sea Lions Repay the Doherty's Hospitality

April 16-- Every year since 2001, the Point Loma Nazarene softball team has been making the trip Decatur, Alabama, site of the NAIA National Championships. Over the last four years, Bob and Linda Doherty have served as official hosts to the Sea Lions as they compete at nationals. PLNU repaid some of the couple's hospitality recently. Read More

Five Sea Lions Earn All-American Honors

5/21 - PLNU softball finished with a 50-12 overall record, an NAIA No. 2 ranking and were third at the National Championship Tournament. Five Sea Lions were rewarded with All-American selections. Senior outfielder Amanda Addie and junior utility Melissa Gomez were named to the All-American first team, senior outfielder Paige Powell and sophomore Tyler Lent earned second team honors and junior second baseman Kayla Luttmers was added to the honorable mention team. 5/21 - Point Loma Nazarene's run for a title came to an end Wednesday in a 4-0 loss to Lubbock Christian (TX), in the loser's bracket final of the 2008 NAIA Softball National Championship. Read More

Softball 2008 Season Preview
