1/20 - For the second time in three weeks, PLNU junior forward Colleen Planeta was tabbed as the NAIA National Player of the Week. She averaged 22.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 6.5 blocks in two wins for the Sea Lions. Read More

Sea Lions Sign Three for 2008-09 Campaign

8/11 - PLNU women’s basketball inked three players for the upcoming 2008-09 season: Brianna Colon, Pernilla Hanson and Kaitlyn Trotter. The Sea Lions finished last year with a 29-3 overall record, a NAIA No. 3 ranking and won both the Golden State Athletic Conference regular season and post season tournament titles.  The three newcomers will be asked to help fill the void left with the graduation of five seniors. 3/12 - The NAIA has released its 32-team bracket for the 28th Annual NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship.  Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn. will host the event on March 19-25, 2008. 3/4 - The All-GSAC men's and women's basketball teams were announced today and there are plenty of PLNU representatives. Josh Sanderson and Craig Austin both earned a spot on the men's team with Colleen Planeta, Kati Hilbelink and Kerra Sutton-Wodarski garnering selections on the women's teamBill Westphal was named Women's Coach of the Year.

1/15 - All but one player who got into the game scored as NAIA No. 8 Point Loma Nazarene won their fifth game in a row on Tuesday, topping Golden State Athletic Conference foe Concordia 77-61. 1/12 - Senior Kati Hilbelink sank four three pointers over the final five minutes of play to lead NAIA No. 8 Point Loma Nazarene to an exciting come-from-behind 76-75 win at No. 6 The Master's Saturday night. PLNU to Host Surf N Slam Basketball Tournament

Beginning on 10 am on Thursday, December 27th and running through Saturday evening, Golden Gymnasium on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene will be playing host to the 2007 Surf N Slam Small College Basketball Tournament. The eight team field consists of seven NCAA DIII schools; UW Stevens Point, UW Eau Claire, Carroll (WI), Gustavus Adolphus (MN), Ithaca (NY), Maryville (MO), Rivier (NH). 11/9 - NAIA No. 9 Point Loma Nazarene opened the 2007-08 season with a come-from-behind 67-62, win over #5 Southern Nazarene Friday night in the Sawyer Center. Sea Lions Picked 2nd in GSAC Preseason Poll

10/19 - Point Loma Nazarene was selected to finish second the GSAC preseason coaches' poll. Vanguard, who completed the regular season ranked No. 1 in the NAIA and advanced to the semifinals of the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament, received 9 first place votes. Women's Basketball Announces 2007 Recruits

Coaches Bill Westphal and Alan Nakamura announced their 2007 recruiting class, which features three newcomers that will provide depth to an already talent-rich Sea Lion squad. Guards Amanda Franz (San Clemente HS) and Avery Lee (Lake Oswego HS) join the Sea Lions as freshmen this season, while 6’2” sophomore Shawmonee Holm arrives from Skagit Valley CC in Washington.
