PLNU Chapel fall 2009

Chapel is held each Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 9:45 a.m. in Brown Chapel.

The theme for this year's chapel is On Earth As It Is In Heaven

For centuries the Church has examined, studied, practiced and embodied the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples during his earthly ministry. Historically known as The Lord’s Prayer, it really is the Lord’s disciples’ prayer for it represents the heart and challenge of living out the mission of God, the Gospel that proclaims salvation and redemption to this fallen and broken world. As Christians, redeemed and created anew in and through Christ Jesus, we are commissioned to incarnate God’s will “on earth as it is in heaven,” being witnesses of a Love that conquers sin and death and restores humanity to a right relationship with God, with others, and with the totality of creation.

It is to this end that this year’s Chapel theme focuses. “On earth as it is in heaven” is a clarion call to live our lives in such a way that announces the Good News of the Gospel; that God in Christ has reconciled the world unto Himself and has prepared a way by His Spirit for those who follow after Jesus to live differently, uniquely, holy in the world. Through Chapels, ministries, discipleship groups, mission trips, and special forums, we hope to create a space where the entire campus community is invited and challenged to live deeply this Kingdom reality; growing in spiritual intimacy with God and embodying His love through acts of charity and justice to the world around us.

Open your heart, your mind, and your life this year as we seek Jesus and by His Spirit live out the prayer he taught his disciples to pray …

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever.
