Point Loma Nazarene University

Common Interest Clubs

Association of Latino American Students (ALAS):

¡Hola! ALAS, which means "wings," wants to inspire you to expand your horizons through a Christ-centered atmosphere and participation in cultural activities. ALAS is also here to provide a home environment for Latinos at Point Loma, raise campus awareness of various cultures within the Latino community, and form a ministry that serves Point Loma and its surrounding communities.

Asian Students United (ASU):

ASU seeks to reach out to other students whether on or off campus. This will be achieved through club meetings, various social events, Bible studies, and most importantly through the building of relationships. Through God's blessing of unique and rich cultures, the Asian Student Union strives to make students more culturally aware and artistically empowered.

Brothers and Sisters United (BSU):

We strive to act as a positive voice for African American students at Point Loma, providing them with support groups. BSU strives to create a unified campus community by introducing others to the African American culture and by encouraging a meaningful relationship with God.

College Democrats:

A politically active group of students who also share a common Democrat view on politics. The College Democrats stay active in state and local politics through participation in elections and presentations from guest speakers.

College Republicans:

College Republicans is a very active club, especially during the election time. We strive to develop political skills and leadership abilities from a Christian perspective in preparation for members’ future service to the party and community. We believe that faith and politics can coexist.

Hui 'O Hawaii:

Hui 'O Hawaii wants to share the "aloha spirit" and Hawaiian culture with Point Loma students and faculty. This club provides a "home away from home" to students from Hawaii. Our club is for students from the islands and anyone interested in Hawaii’s culture. Mahalo nui loa a hui hou, emalama pono.

International Club:

The focus of the International Club is to bring Point Loma’s international and American students together for an international experience and friendships on our campus. Activities promote cultural exchange and understanding through spiritual and social activities and celebrations. Numerous leadership opportunities are also available.

Men's Volleyball Club:

The Men's Volleyball Club is about fellowship and serious volleyball. Our goal is to grow as individuals in the Lord and as a team. We are a group of young, experienced volleyball players who come together and play other Christian colleges and universities. Volunteer coaches and presidents help produce plenty of home and away games making it a great season of six-man volleyball.

Mu Kappa:

Mu Kappa is an international organization for students whose parents serve as missionaries. We provide the opportunity for missionaries’ kids to meet people from similar backgrounds and find encouragement during cultural adjustments. At Point Loma, we aim to serve each other through various activities and ministries.

Rugby Club:

The Rugby Club exists on the Point Loma camps as a competitive sport competing against other colleges and universities. Any students interested in the game of rugby are encouraged to participate. It is a great way to learn or improve on the challenging sport while fellowshipping with others and exemplifying Christ during competition.

Skim Club:

Skim Club is a non-exclusive student-led skim boarding club that seeks to improve and hone skim boarding skills. We are an organization based around a love for the ocean and beach, skim boarding, and God.

Surf Club:

The Surf Club is a competitive group of athletes who surf in the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA), where we have held top national rankings. We also sponsor events for the student body such as movie premieres, concerts and surf contests.

Women's Volleyball Club:

This club is for women at the university interested in playing volleyball competitively. We have weekly practices and compete in matches against various club volleyball teams from other colleges and universities.
