Skill Training
Individuals involved in a Guide Development Plan work through being Trainees, Assistant Guides, and onto Senior Guide status. Guide trainings exist in three adventure disciplines:
  • Kayaking
  • Mountaineering
  • Rockclimbing

A complete list of intense skill training dates and trips are listed on the Great Escapes Trip List. Spaces for non-guide participants are available on the guide training trips on a first come first serve basis.


Wilderness Medicine
Also, the Great Escapes program host an annual two part Wilderness First Repsonder Course. The fall section certifies people in Wilderness Advanced First Aid, which is great for recreational adventurers. The spring Wilderness First Responder Bridge course completes the medical training required for GDP participants to acqire Senior Guide status.
