Dr. G.L. Forward, Professor of Organizational Communication, was invited to be a guest reviewer for the Western Journal of Communication by editor elect Brian L. Ott. Articles submitted to the journal undergo a process called "blind review" in which author and reviewer remain unknown to each other. Reviewers evaluate submissions, often suggest revisions, and help the editor make the decision to publish or not publish the article.

Forward is a member of the editorial review board for the Journal of Communication and Religion and has done conference reviews for the Acadamy of Management, Association for the Study of Higher Eduation, the Religious Communication Association, and Western States Communication Association.
