The PLNU speech and debate program led by Dr. Skip Rutledge and Professor Melissa Lazaro won the 2007 National Parliamentary Debate Association National Championships. The team of Tim Kamermayer and Griffith Vertican won all 8 of their preliminary rounds, and then advanced through the 7 elimination rounds - beating Creighton University on a split decision in the final round.
