Channel 3: Your Channel’s news program Coastline News is shaping up with a snazzy new set.

The new set design includes a change to a night-time backdrop and a brand new table.

According to Coastline News Manager and Producer, Nicole Jimenez, the new background fits the show’s airtime.

“It made more sense, as we have an evening newscast,” said Jimenez. Coastline News airs at 8 p.m. on Wednesday evenings.

With the craftsmanship of sophomore Production Technical Assistant and Coastline News Director, Michael Spear, the bi-weekly newscast is looking more professional than ever.

One of the changes includes a new table, which will better accommodate the seating of three anchors on camera.

“[The TV Studio] has had that desk for ten years. We’re starting to do new things on Coastline… and the table was step one of the set change,” said Spear.

The look of the new desk is credited to Spear, who altered it by added wood paneling. Jimenez says she loves the new set-up.

“The desk definitely gives it a more modern look, which I am excited for,” said Jimenez. “It’s modern and sleek.”

Spear is also planning on enhancing the evening cityscape backdrop by adding plexi-glass and colored lights to bring more life to the set. The improvement will also allow more space to shoot from creative angles.

“The most important thing is that the set will be updated to industry standards,” said Spear.

Jimenez and Spear are planning on all changes being completed by the last episode of Coastline News in April in order to start fresh for the new semester in August.
