Academic Announcements


*SUMMER SCHOOL COURSES
- If you are planning to take a course this summer at another college/university, please stop by the Records Office with the course description and be sure to fill out our course approval form. This form needs to be submitted to and approved by the Records Office before the end of the spring semester. If you take any courses that are not pre-approved, you may not receive the credit you anticipated.

*COMMENCEMENT TICKET DISTRIBUTION - Reminder to the members of the graduating class of 2008: Tickets can be picked up Monday, April 21, through Friday, May 2, in the Records Office. The office will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

*FALL 2008 MARTIAL ARTS PE COURSE SET - Fall 2008, PED 102 (section 4) has been set up for the ongoing martial arts course. Please send questions to Tom Blamey (tomblamey@pointloma.edu). http://www.obmartialarts.com/11.html

SAT II LANGUAGE EXAM - The LJML Dept. will give the SAT II Language Exam in French, German and Spanish, August 25, 2008 at 4 p.m. in BAC103. Qualifications for taking the exam: At least 3 years of the language and it has been less than two years since your last language class. Cost is $17.00 when you sign up with Edie or Rachel in the BAC main office before May 9th.

CONSIDER TEACHING AS A CAREER! - The School of Education will hold an informational meeting for students interested in multiple and single subject credentialing on April 23 on the main campus at 4:30 p.m.; room to be determined. Pizza and drinks provided. Come and hear about timelines, classes, and internship possibilities for students who are earning their credentials. Math and Science teachers are in short supply. Discover whether you might find a PAID internship while you complete your credential. RSVP to robinkohl@pointloma.edu.

* ARE YOU READY TO GRADUATE?? - If you are a graduating senior, you are likely getting very excited and maybe a little stressed out as graduation approaches. In the midst of all this, we want to remind you of some details that you don’t want to forget. Your family and friends will be eagerly awaiting your walk across stage to get your diploma, and we don’t want that wonderful moment ruined because you forgot to pay a chapel fine! In accordance with university policy, you will not be allowed to pick up your cap and gown if you owe ANY money on your student account. Please check today to make sure that your account is paid in full. Also, many fines will not be posted until the week of graduation (such as chapel fines, mail key fines, and dorm fines.) Please make sure to check your account online regularly as we approach the end of the semester so that you can keep your account paid in full. You should also be aware that checks will not be accepted as payment on your account after April 21st. We have enjoyed working with you during your time at PLNU, and we look forward to seeing you receive your diploma. Congratulations on this awesome achievement! KNOW WHAT YOU OWE: MANDATORY STUDENT LOAN INFORMATION –

Attention Graduating Seniors with Stafford and Alternative Loans:

If you are graduating and you have received a Federal Stafford Loan and/or Alternative Private Loan during your tenure here at PLNU, you must complete a mandatory Stafford Loan Exit Interview. This interview will review your rights and responsibilities as a borrower, and will include information on your alternative loans if you have one.

Interviews are available for the following days and times in Draper Hall:

Monday April 21st at 3 p.m.
Tuesday April 22nd – Friday April 25th at 11 a.m. or 3 p.m.
Monday April 28th – Thursday May 1st at 11 a.m. or 3 p.m.
Friday May 2nd at 11 a.m.

Students who attend will be provided with details about their current loan balances and repayment options.

Your interview will be in a group setting and usually lasts about 45 minutes. In order to serve you better, please contact Student Financial Services to reserve a day and time by calling (619) 849-2538 or e-mailing sfs@pointloma.edu. Refreshments will be served.
