    CREATION CARE WEEK Point Loma celebrates the earth and focuses on our responsibility as Christians to be good stewards of God's creation with Creation Care Week. Running from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1, the week will be filled with events, displays, tours and service opportunities.     PLANNING TO GRADUATE THIS YEAR?If you will be completing your graduation requirements in Fall 2006 or Spring 2007, please come to the Records Office to fill out a “Request for Grad Check” form. You will be contacted with an appointment time for a Graduation Check. Appointment times are limited, so be sure to schedule an appointment before Priority On-line Registration (October 30th – November 10th) if you do not know what Spring classes to take. This “Grad Check” is required in order to be considered as a candidate for a degree. (10/02/06)

    †PLNU CATALOG Students are ultimately responsible for the fulfillment of all requirements listed for majors, minors, and General Education (G.E.) in the Catalog at initial enrollment. Those who choose a subsequent Catalog, however, must notify the Records Office and meet all requirements in that Catalog. If a student has not been registered here at PLNU for three or more regular semesters, they will come in under the Catalog in effect at the time they re-enter (PLNU 2006 – 2007 Catalog). (10/02/06)

    NEW STUDENT LED & SPONSORED EVENT OPPORTUNITY The Office of Residential Life is taking applications for a new student led and sponsored event for the entire campus.  The winning entry will be given $1000 to make the event happen.  Proposals will be accepted in the Office of Residential Life until October 15, 2006.  Proposals should include names of the sponsoring students, event plan, budget for the event, and the goals and objectives of the event.  The attendance goal for the event should be 300+.  If you have any questions contact Brandon Hill at bhill@pointloma.edu.

    CREATION CARE WEEK: "MARCH OF THE PENGUINS"

    -  We believe the earth is the Lord's and everything in it.  So, tonight, Sep. 25 @ 8PM, the first night of Creation Care Week, we will be watching the documentary film,  "MARCH OF THE PENGUINS" on a 16x20ft. screen in The Greek. Bring a blanket and a friend and we will provide FREE ice cream bars.

    MENINGITIS VACCINE NOW AVAILABLE IN THE WELLNESS CENTER A new meningitis vaccine shipment has arrived in the Wellness Center, for those of you who would like to receive the vaccine. The cost of the meningitis (meningococcal) vaccine is $85.

    HEAR YE, HEAR YE!Renowned Gilbert and Sullivan expert, Richard Sheldon, will visit Point Loma Nazarene University next Monday, September 25, to work with students. He will visit Vocal Forum at 4 PM in Crill Performance Hall and will return at 6:30 PM to work with members of the MIKADO cast.     YEARBOOK MUG SHOTS AND RESERVATIONS Come and get your picture taken for the 2006-2007 Mariner yearbook. Pictures will be taken October 2-4 from 8 am to 2 pm outside the Caf. Be sure to bring your ID card. Yearbook reservations will also be taken on these days. It costs $10 to reserve a book.(10/02/06)

    DRIFTWOOD IS NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS Point Loma's annual literary magazine the Driftwood will be accepting entries for the 2006-2007 edition starting September 19 through October 3. Students can submit to fiction, non-fiction, poetry, photography, art, music, film, and graphic novel (a new addition this year!). There is no submission fee. Students are allowed to submit a total of five pieces. Entry applications are available in the LJML office. For more information, contact the Driftwood at driftwood@pointloma.edu

    GET ORGANIZED! NOTE TAKING METHODS THAT WORK FOR YOU!

    Cornell Note taking- divide your paper into three sections: Notes, Key Words, Summary

    1. Notes- use outline format, short phrases, space between items for adding more information after class
    2. Key Words- choose one or two words that summarize the topic
    3. Summary-leave space at the bottom; during study time, summarize the topic covered in your own words

    MAKING NOTES WORK FOR YOU!

    1. Review notes the same day they’re taken
    2. As you review, write additional key words or phrases in the left margin
    3. Place a check mark beside the terms and facts you know
    4. Review the words unchecked until all key words and facts are checked
