Admissions and Records Announcements
*CONFIRM YOUR CLASS SCHEDULE - Be sure to check your schedule on my.pointloma.edu (Students – Session Schedule) and confirm that your classes are correct. If your schedule is incorrect and you are not able to change it on the portal, please come to the Records Office and fill out a Change of Schedule Form. If you are adding a class, you must have the instructor’s signature. (8/31)

You must confirm yourself or you may be dropped from all your courses.

*JOIN PLNU'S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SPEECH AND DEBATE TEAM! - PLNU's National Championship winning Speech and Debate Team competes with schools like Berkeley, UCLA, University of Florida and Notre Dame. Students develop life empowering skills. Want to join? Contact Dr. Skip Rutledge ASAP at x2391 or drop by his office in Cabrillo#103. We compete in debate and with original speeches, dramatic interpretation, impromptu and extemporaneous speaking. Learn critical presentational skills in a game-like environment. Bright, well spoken, and competitive students excel. Great for grad school, scholarships, and preparing for dream careers. Novices welcome. Come to our first meeting Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 in Cabrillo #202. Arg & Debate COM231 now meets the COM 100 general education requirement.

Athletics Announcements
*OPEN SOCCER TRYOUTS - The soccer program is holding a walk-on tryout date on Thursday August 27th. The women's team will begin practicing at 2:45 and the men will begin at 4:30 on the soccer field. If you are interested in trying out for the team, feel free to come out. We are also looking for a walk-on goalie for the women's team.

*LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - Check out the new study rooms and carpet on the Library’s Middle Level. Art, Music, Theater, Literary and Film Announcements
*LJML BOOK AND BAKE SALE – LJML presents its first book and bake sale on the semester on Wednesday, September 2, from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., in front of the BAC building. Donuts and other baked items will be on sell for 35 cents or less; books will average 75 cents. As usual, books will primarily represent literature, composition, and linguistics, but the broad range of books will include history, theology, music, art, etc. Once donor has given several boxes of religious books. Included are Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, complete operas of Verdi, Strong’s Concordance, Bartlett’s Quotations, Harry Potter, many children’s titles, Bantam Medical Dictionary, The Koran, and a Brief History of Music.
*DID YOU GET YOUR YEARBOOK AND EXTRA MUG PAGES? - If you purchased a 2008-09 Mariner yearbook, an extra 4-page insert of some mug shots and clubs is available FREE. If you haven't picked up your reserved yearbook--or want to purchase one for just $10.00--just go by the LJML office to get your yearbooks and inserts.

Visually Planning Time Master Timetable— Plan Ahead for Fall 2009
1. Obtain month-at-a-glance calendar with large blocks to write in, to post on a wall or on top of your study desk. Student Gmail accounts have a calendar! When you are logged into your email account it is in the top left corner.
2. Record pertinent holidays, deadlines, and finals week dates listed on PLNU academic calendar. This can be found on the main pointloma.edu page, under “Quick Links.”
3. Add major test dates, midterms and finals, major papers and projects dates listed on your class syllabi.
4. Add other important dates and deadlines that you know.
5. Display your semester planning calendar in a location you will view frequently.
6. Put this information in your student planner, pocket calendar, or PDA. Add info in the Outlook appointment calendar and set the software to send reminders when you are online.
