Admissions and Records Announcements
*MAJOR CHANGES - If you would like to change your major, concentration or minor you may do so by coming into the Records Office to fill out and submit a Change of Program form. Once you’ve completed the Change of Program form and submitted it to the Records Office, we will update your records to reflect the new major, concentration and/or minor; this will also update your advising guide online in the portal. The Academic Advising Office will then work with the necessary department/school to assign you the correct advisor in the department of your new major.
*LAST DAY TO ADD - The last day to add a semester long (16 week) class is January 23, 2009. The last day to add a Quad I class is January 16, 2009.
*PASS / NO CREDIT - The last day to select the Pass/No Credit option for Quad I courses is January 16, 2009. The last day to select the Pass/No Credit option for semester long (16 week) courses is January 23, 2009. Refer to the Academic Catalog for the Pass/No Credit policy.
*SOCCER REFEREES - I need 3 soccer referees this Saturday, January 16, 9:45 a.m. - 5 p.m., here at the Soccer Field. Amateur play but experience referees preferred. Can pay. Call Dale Hudson at ext. 2518.
*ENCUENTRO DE LIDERES - Please help welcome 150 youth from Spanish speaking churches from California, Arizona and New Mexico this weekend. Financial and Scholarship Announcements
*HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WELCOME BACK!! - THE STUDENT FINANCIAL SERVICES TEAM IS EXCITED TO SEE YOU BACK ON CAMPUS. WE HAVE IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMINDERS BELOW:
1. MAKE SURE THE RIGHT PEOPLE HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT. If you want us to discuss your bill with your parents or anyone else, you must give them permission to access your account. Go to your Student Portal, under Profile Update and then proceed to Update Information Releases. You’ll also want to provide your parents with their PLNU ID so that they can set up their own parent portal. This will allow them access to your statement of account, including the ability to pay your bill online, but would not allow them full access to your portal.
2. AVOID A LATE FEE. Pay your tuition bill by February 5, 2009.
3. CHECK YOUR STUDENT ACCOUNT ONLINE (VIA YOUR PORTAL) REGULARLY.
4. WAIVE YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE. If you already have health insurance and haven’t yet waived our insurance plan, please be sure to do this via Financial Services, Update Health Insurance section of your portal by February 6, 2009 or you will be charged for health insurance regardless of other coverage.
5. CHOOSE YOUR MEAL PLAN. If you want to change your Meal Plan, make sure you do this via Financial Services, Meal Plan Selection section of your portal by January 23, 2009.
6. REMINDER: Any changes made to your schedule need to be finalized by January 23, 2009 to avoid any financial penalties.
*THE SAN DIEGO FOUNDATION’S COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - The San Diego Foundation is the largest provider of scholarships in the San Diego region outside of the colleges and universities. Last year, The San Diego Foundation awarded over $3.1 million in scholarships to more than 600 recipients. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors, current college students, graduate students, and adult re-entry students. Students can attend an accredited two-year college, four-year university, graduate school, or licensed trade/vocational school. They are currently offering over 70 scholarships for their 2009-2010 Common Scholarship Application, each with its own unique criteria. With this application, students can apply for a variety of scholarships by using one application and submitting one set of materials! *THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CPA’S 2009-2010 SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES - The AICPA is pleased to offer several academic scholarships for students interested in accounting and business: AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship - a joint program with Accountemps, awarding five $2,500 scholarships to students pursuing a degree in accounting, finance or information systems. John L. Carey Scholarship - $5,000 scholarships for a minimum of 10 liberal arts or other non-business related degree holders preparing to enter a graduate accounting program. AICPA Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students - financial awards of up to $5,000 for undergraduate and graduate minority accounting students.
