Financial and Scholarship Announcements

ASIAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION (ABA) FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP - Each year the Asian Business Association Foundation, San Diego, accepts applications from high school and college students as part of its annual scholarship program. Applicants must be either a high school or undergraduate college student, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be a San Diego County resident, and be a US Citizen or permanent resident. Applicants are asked to include a personal narrative with their application. Applications are available online at http://www.abasd.org/commNewsFilter.php?id_comnews=8. COME JOIN THE POINT PERSON CLUB!! - If you enjoy meeting new people and hosting prospective students, then you should be a Point Person!! A Point Person helps with prospective students and earns points towards a gift card or a check! If you would like to house a Preview Day student, eat lunch with a visitor or help with an Admissions event, sign up through Alair Conner in Admissions.

*REVISION: TENSION PREVENTION STRESS SEMINAR – We apologize for last week's announcement. Tension Prevention will still be taking place Monday, September 8th from 8-9 in the Rec Room, however, this is not a Wellness Center sponsored event. The Psych 391 research team will be putting on a stress reduction seminar to help teach all freshmen how to deal with the stress of college life. Come learn to cope with your stress and have free ice cream!

*GREAT ESCAPES - COLORADO RIVER CANOE TRIP - We will leave campus and travel to Blythe, CA. We will then spend Saturday and Sunday canoeing in the warm desert heat. WORSHIP AT THE GREEK - Come enjoy a casual, laid back time of worship! Monday nights from 9 p.m. – 10 p.m. at the Greek! We all worship with the songs you request, and also make time for all your prayer requests and for scripture that has been on your heart. Take a break from studying to enjoy a time of worship in song, communion, prayer, and fellowship. We WILL be meeting this Monday (September 1st). Tutorial Center

MONDAY-THURSDAY 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., FRIDAY 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
The Tutorial Center is located in Bond Academic Center next to Career Services.

1. Survey the Entire Text-read the preface, scan table of contents, scan index and appendices
2. Preview Each Chapter-check chapter summaries, read all headlines, charts, and graphs
3. Take Notes as You Read-identify main ideas in each chapter and summarize what you read
4. Question Yourself as You Read- ask what, why, how, who, and when questions
5. Highlight and Make Margin Notes- write in margins at the end of every page
6. Match Class Notes and Textbook Notes-use textbook notes to supplement lecture notes
7. Review Consistently-before reading new assignments, review what you have previously studied
