Having trouble selecting a meal plan? Try considering your daily routine...Do you eat three meals a day? Will your class schedule, studying, extracurricular activities and social events interfere with dining? Will you miss dinner due to employment or evening classes? Anticipating the answers to these and similar questions will help you to select a meal plan that best fits your lifestyle.
Point Break Credit
Selection of select meal plans entitles you to Point Break Credit. Point Break Credit allows you purchasing power in the amount included in your meal plan and can be used at the Point Break Cafe, Re-store Market, Sabor Mexican Cuisine and the Nicholson Dining Room.
SeaLion Dollars
SeaLion Dollars are similar to Point Break Credit but are indipendent of meal plans. They are accepted at both the Nicholson Dining Room, Sabor Mexican Cuisine, Re-store Market and the Point Break Cafe. SeaLion dollars may be purchased at any time online or at the office of Student Financial Services. SeaLion Dollars do not expire until a PLNU student is no longer enrolled at the University. Faculty and Staff may also purchase SeaLion dollars to use in any on-campus restaurant.
Add SeaLion dollars to your account quickly and easily by visiting https://community.pointloma.edu.
Sick Trays
Sick trays are available for students with a meal plan. If you are feeling under the weather and would like to order a sick tray, please contact Loma Dining at (619) 849-2211 and we will make arrangements to provide you with a meal.
Lost Your Meal Card?
Please remember to have your ID card with you at all times. If it is broken, lost or stolen please contact Student Financial Services as soon as possible to have your lost card deactivated and to get a replacement card. You cannot enter the Nicholson Dining Room or use Point Break Credit or SeaLion Dollars without your card.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I take food out of the Dining Room?
Because we are responsible for all foods served at our dining locations, we cannot allow you to take food from the facility because storing the food for too long or for any time at an improper temperature poses a health risk.
Why can't I use one of my meals to pay for a friend to eat in the Dining Room?
The meal plans are non-transferable and meant for your use only. This keeps meal plan prices lower for everyone.
Does Point Break Credit carry over from one semester to the next?
The Point Break Credit you get with your meal plan does not carry over from one semester to the next since it is part of your semester meal plan. However, SeaLion Dollars that you add to your card do carry over from semester to semester until you are no longer enrolled at PLNU.
Why can't I enter the Dining Room without my card if I know my ID number?
We have no way of verifying that the number is actually yours. If a mistake is made when the number is punched into the system it may take a meal off another student's meal plan or someone may use your ID number to get into the Dining Room.
