ADA Accreditation Awarded to PLNU FCS Dietetics Program

The American Dietetic Association (ADA) has awarded full accreditation to the PLNU Didactic Program in Dietetics within the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences.

This means the ADA has certified that the PLNU undergraduate curriculum for majors in Dietetics meets its rigorous standards in the preparation of students who want to become Registered Dietitians (RDs).  The academic training here addresses the 100 different knowledge- and skill-based competencies that are required for students' acceptance into post-baccalaureate, ADA-accredited internships, the next step in becoming an RD.  Successful PLNU Dietetics majors graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree by completing coursework that includes chemistry, business management, foods and food science, nutrition science, education and research.

The accreditation process included detailed curriculum evaluations, interviews with current students and past graduates, and a site visit from a team of dietetics specialists.  Congratulations to Professor Cindy Swann, MS, RD, CDE, PLNU Director of Dietetics; Dr. Kay Wilder, FCS Department Chair; Professor Margaret Wing-Peterson, MS, RD; FCS faculty; and PLNU administration for their successful collaboration in the accomplishment!
