In Business . . . Where Are They Now?

Dan Whitney

Business Department
1989 Graduate
President
Whitney Consulting

Dan is a 2005 PLNU Alumni Award recipient, and he will be speaking to a gathering of alumni and students at the scheduled Homecoming Reception on Friday, November 18, in the Fermanian Business Building .

He is an inspiration in both his faith and the recovery he has modeled after a serious biking accident resulted in a broken neck… and a new start in life, and the business world.

Dan left PLNU in the late 80’s to work for General Dynamics, and ultimately worked his way into the Senior Director position at Seagate (procurement). He spent time in Silicon Valley … and was surrounded by millionaire peers in a fast-moving business world. He now consults to large corporations and is involved in business to business software development, ERP projects, and is partnered with Vinimaya, Inc. in the area of procurement models.

Dan now lives in Scotts Valley, California and is married to Candi (’88 PLNU graduate), with whom he has daughters Nicole (11) and Danielle (8).

Dan speaks internationally, and one of the things he shares from this side of the accident that interrupted his career and life path is that we must be ready for unexpected change. He describes how much of his success stems from a consistent commitment to the values he has integrated with his business life, and the difference that integrity makes in the field of business today.

Dan also has a heart commitment to something he created for disabled youngsters called the Whitney Hope Foundation… which offers incredible camp experiences to all the kids, adult participants/volunteers, and sponsoring corporations who get involved. (www.whitneyhope.com)

Dan is one of the finest examples of a person walking his faith in business, and in service.

Chris Niemeyer

History & Political Science
2002 Graduate
Executive Director
Lincoln Club of San Diego

Chris has accomplished an impressive amount in his brief time with nationally recognized Lincoln Club of San Diego , a political organization supporting quality education and public policy that promotes economic opportunity and enhanced quality of life for all citizens. And, he has his sights set on accomplishing much more as a Christian leader on the rise, in what he terms “a God-driven ascent”.

Chris is a great example of a PLNU “alum in business” who graduated from other than the business program. In 2002, his senior year, Chris came across a part-time position listed on the Fermanian Business Center internship board… and he got he job. Three years later Chris is the Executive Director, and has led a monumental growth and development effort resulting (among other things) in a 300% increase in membership over the past two years. Niemeyer connects San Diegans to decision-makers across the country. Serving in campaign advisory roles to local, state and national officials, Niemeyer has hosted dozens of US Senators, Congressmen, State Legislators and local officials.

Involved in San Diego community groups, Niemeyer serves as a member of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association; advisor to the Point Loma College Republicans and Northern California Scholastic Federation; and as Vice President of the PLNU Alumni in Business Auxiliary. Chris and his wife Alicia, who works for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, live in the San Diego community of Sabre Springs.

Chris extends his invitation to contact him as a resource in the extended family of PLNU alumni wanting to stay connected in Spirit, and in the good work of bettering the world.
