Point Loma Nazarene University possesses a rich heritage of providing Christ-centered liberal arts education. Since its founding in 1902, the University has been blessed with the enduring support of special friends and alumni who have contributed significantly to the realization of the University’s achievements.
Estate gifts through wills, trusts, annuities and other arrangements have been of particular importance. Invaluable support for campus programs and improvements has come from this source.
PLNU is grateful for those who have thoughtfully designated gifts to the University in their estate plans. The Heritage Society has been established to honor this special group of people. The status and recognition afforded to members of the Heritage Society is reserved exclusively for those who have made the University a beneficiary of:
- a will
- a revocable trust
- a charitable remainder trust
- a charitable gift annuity
- a life insurance policy
- the Point Loma Nazarene University pooled income fund
- the gift of a remainder interest in real property
- other qualifying estate gifts
- endowed scholarships
Additionally persons who have been honored by family and friends with the establishment of an endowed scholarship in their name are also included in the Heritage Society.
Point Loma established the Heritage Society in 1991 and continues to add hundreds of individuals and families each year. Individuals who have begun the process of making a gift to the University are invited to be Heritage Society friends. Upon documented completion they are officially inducted into the Heritage Society. (sample bequest language.)
Members of the Heritage Society will receive a memento symbolizing their affiliation. Also, all members are invited to attend the “Heritage Society Luncheon” held in their honor each year.
Opportunities for giving to Point Loma Nazarene University are almost limitless. A gift may be large or small, unrestricted in purpose or specifically designated for scholarship, faculty salaries, buildings or a wide variety of other planned gifts.
If you qualify for membership, or would like further information regarding the Heritage Society please contact us. Call Point Loma Nazarene University, Office of Planned Giving at (619) 849-2370, e-mail Cindy Wickwire cindywickwire@pointloma.edu.
