Student Lifestyle Policies and Regulations

Point Loma Nazarene University recognizes the student as an adult pursuing an education.  When entering the university, students take upon themselves certain responsibilities and obligations. The university recognizes the policies outlined in the Student Handbook as the expectations that exist for all members of this community.  Four very clear non-negotiable behavioral expectancies exist:
  • Excellence in academic performance
  • Civility in all communications
  • Abstinence from drugs, alcohol, smoking, and all forms of tobacco
  • Communicating respect to self, others, and for property
These expectations of this community are consistent with successful academic progress of students in all universities.  They are also consistent with the religious and social heritage of this university.

Point Loma Nazarene University wishes to assist students in leading congruent lives that are based on integrity and truth.  The Student Lifestyle policies are based on a set of shared and biblical values, and sets expectations for PLNU students regardless of where and when their behaviors occur.  Therefore, students engaging in inappropriate conduct will be held accountable regardless if the behavior is on or off campus.   Students will also be held accountable for statements and publications that they make in printed or any electronic form, that are inconsistent with the Student Lifestyle policies.
