All undergraduate students are required to have insurance coverage for illness and injury. Students are charged for a student policy each year even if they are studying abroad and regardless of number of units. They may waive those charges on a yearly basis via their computer registration site. Students are responsible for the validity of the information submitted concerning their insurance. There is a deadline for this process after which charges cannot be removed from the student’s account. The deadline is the third week of the semester. There is no provision for student insurance for students who enter during the summer. Student’s spouses, children and graduate students may apply for coverage by the student insurance plan through the Business Office during the first three weeks of the fall and spring semesters.
Insurance is an important part of health care. The Wellness Center recommends that all students and parents review their private insurance, talk about how to access care in San Diego County and plan ahead for possible future needs.
