Long Distance Calling

Each student is assigned an authorization code, at no charge, which will enable him/her to make long distance calls from any telephone on campus.  Once the student uses the authorization code, it is assumed that the student agrees to the terms and conditions published in the ResNet & LomaTel Handbook.  The Office of Telecommunications can be contacted at extension 2432.

NOTE:  Check our web site at TeleCommunications and select on long distance rates to find rate information alphabetically by country.

University Voice Mail System

Class lists publish voice mailbox assignments and professors use voicemail to send students’ course information.

Phone Equipment

We do not provide phones for the residence hall rooms.  We do provide TDD equipment for the hearing impaired when needed. You may bring a phone from home or you may purchase a phone locally.  Here are a few important guidelines:
  • A standard plug-in phone is usually your most economical investment.
  • You may purchase a cordless phone; however, be aware that cordless phones sometimes receive interference from other electronic equipment on campus.
  • If you invest in a cordless phone, ask the salesman about “digital spread spectrum.”  Phones with this feature experience the least interference.
