The Academic Support Center, exists to provide ongoing academic support in several areas. PLNU Academic Support consists of the following service areas: Academic Advising
Academic Advising works with students to assist in developing academic plans consistent with their career, educational and personal goals. This includes assisting students declare a major and assigning a faculty advisor in the major department. Undeclared majors are advised by the Director of Academic Advising until a major has been selected. Tutorial Services Tutorial Services assists students in managing multiple course curriculum demands. The Tutorial Center offers a variety of options such as: - Private individual one-on-one tutoring
- Review Sessions
- Small Group Tutoring Sessions
- On-Call Free Tutoring
- Computer Programs (designed for students with special needs)
- Literature Tapes
- Off-Campus Community Tutoring
All services provided at the Center are free of cost. Probationary Student Services
Probationary Student Services provides support and academic enrichment activities to improve academic status through academic goal-oriented mentoring relationships, academic progress review, and tutorial support. Most probationary students find that the additional support enables them to return to satisfactory academic status within one semester. Contact the Director of Academic Advising for more information or to begin receiving services. If you’re struggling academically and are placed on academic probation, we’ll do everything we can to help you get back on track. You will be invited to meet with the Coordinator of Probationary Student Services who will assist you in setting up a goal-oriented mentoring relationship with a faculty, staff, or student. You and your mentor will set academic goals and meet regularly to review your progress toward these goals. Most probationary students find that this additional support enables them to return to satisfactory academic status within one semester. Special Academic Services Special Academic Services works with students in developing academic accommodation plans for students with documented learning and/or physical disabilities.
