PLNU enjoys a proud tradition of men’s and women's intercollegiate athletic competition. The sports teams have earned championships and national reputation throughout the years. PLNU belongs to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC). The athletic teams also participate in a program once each month when practice and competition is modified for a day as the members of each team join together for an hour of spiritual focus and a meal together. Christian special speakers of athletic background present their personal testimonies and challenge to athletes and coaches.
Students are provided spectator home event opportunities for more than 150 competitions in the 14 sports. Athletes and student spectators alike are urged to support in a positive manner generating school spirit and identity as an intricate part of character development and good sportsmanship.

To be eligible for participation in the intercollegiate athletics program, student athletes must have a minimum GPA of 2.000, complete 12 units each term, and be actively earning at least 12 units leading toward a major and graduation. Additional academic requirements stipulated by the NAIA and GSAC may be obtained by calling the Faculty Athletic Representative or the Associate Athletic Director.
