Testimonials

  • The ISF program is amazing.  You build friendships that will last into the future.  You get to know a group of people who you probably never would have gotten to know before.   The ISF helps you form friendships with people straight off, while you are still making friends in your residence halls.  Overall, ISF was the best decision I made, regarding coming to Point Loma.

  • One of the best things about the ISF program is the  involvement of the professors with all the other professors and the planning of projects and tests around each other so as to not stress out the students too much.  Also I really enjoyed the ISF retreat as a way to get to know the other students that we have class with in a non-academic envirnonment.  Also the profs coming was a fun way to get to know them and learn about their lives and families and really get a sense that they care about you as a student.

  • The Profs are more than interesting and engaging, they really care about you as a whole person; Mind, body and spirit. There is no better way to meet a quality core group of friends and experience learning in a holistic way

  • The professors got to know me and I felt more comfortable talking with them about personal issues and asking more in depth questions about the classes. The bonds I made with the other ISFers were extremely strong and I did not feel like ISF limited my social circle at all.

  • I would recommend this program to incoming freshman because it helps them to become situated to college by fostering growth spiritually, academically, and relationally. I would go through this program every semester if I could. You develop some of your longest-lasting relationships while in this program.

  • I like the fact that the teachers were truly concerned for our well-being and built friendships with the students. The teachers cared if you had a problem in class, they cared if you did not feel like you understood the material, and they just plain cared about the students! I would definitely recommend that freshmen should take this program. It's the way I feel the rest of my classes should be: great teachers and great times.

  • This was a challenging program, but it was worth it. I got to know some great people and had a good time hanging with them; it was nice to have that accountability. I also learned more about myself and grew in ways that I never would have imagined. I was not expecting an experience like this, but I don't regret it at all.

  • I was challenged and encouraged in every class, and I think that this semester prepared me for the rest of my career at Point Loma. But what I love most about ISF is the incredible teachers - Never before have I felt such a personal connection with my teachers.

  • Many people asked me how I like the ISF program and expressed their concern that it didn’t allow us to get to know people. I believe it did the opposite- I now have a group of friends I know really well rather that a lot of people I am acquainted with.

  • The ISF program helped me grow as a person, spiritually and academically. I have never felt so genuinely cared about as I have in the ISF program from the friends and professors that I have met. The program was very challenging, but it was one the best academic experiences I’ve had thus far.
