Information Technology Services is the backbone of our computer network. ITS coordinates all aspects of technology and communication in the computer labs. Ryan Computer Labs and the Student Help Desk is the branch of ITS that coordinates and assists students with their computer use. The labs are located in many areas across campus with the main labs located in Ryan Learning Center.
LabTech
Qualifications for the position of Labtech:
Computer experience is recommended but more importantly you must be a people person, be mature and able to work effectively under stress and with people who are stressed, and be responsible. Work Study and non-Work Study students are encouraged to apply.
Job Description:
LabTechs work in the Ryan Computer Labs to assist students using lab computers. They have knowledge of general-use software such as Windows XP, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, however, training is required in the use of these applications if one is hired. They supervise the labs, answer the Student Help Desk phone calls, and provide assistance whenever possible.
ResTech
Qualifications for the position of Restech:
Must have good problem solving skills and patience when working with computers. Also computer software and hardware knowledge/skills are recommended but not required. Be willing to learn and be customer friendly.
Job Description:
The Restech office located in the Main computer labs in Ryan Library. Our main function is to ensure every student on campus can connect to the network using their personal computer. We also combat Virus' and malware and fix any hardware problems if the replacement part is provided. Some of the more experienced ResTechs get Dell Certified which allows us to service any Dell warranty repairs.
