- The Ryan Computer Labs are among the finest academic computing labs available. It is essential that the computing equipment in the labs be used and cared for with respect. The following guidelines are given in order to keep the labs at their best and make it possible for users to complete their work efficiently and in a pleasant atmosphere.
- Radios, food, or drinks will not be permitted in the labs.
- Avoid excessive or loud conversation
- Return all library books to the library upon leaving the labs.
- Lab assistants are provided in the Ryan Computer Labs to assist students working on the computers. They have knowledge of general-use software such as Windows XP, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. They supervise the labs and provide assistance when possible. They are not software tutors and should not be asked to give assistance with in-depth application questions.
- Use of the lab computers is open to all students, faculty, and staff of Point Loma Nazarene University.
- Priority for use of the computers and printers.
- Scheduled classes according to the posted calendar.
- Work that is for class assignment.
- Internet browsing that is for a class assignment.
- Personal e-mail and Internet browsing.
- Game playing is not allowed when labs are full.
- Computer labs etiquette and policies.
- Work quietly; it is distracting when students are trying to complete assignments and there is excessive noise.
- The telephone in the labs are for lab assistants, faculty, and staff use only; there is a public phone available in the Library.
- Please do not print documents from a web browser when the lab is busy; printing charge for the laser printersis 5 cents per 8 1/2 X 11 page; plan your printing to be completed by the labs' closing time; the printer queue is turned off 5 minutes prior to closing.
- Do not attempt to run outside programs on the lab PC's. Copying software to a lab computer'shard drive is not permitted (check with the Manager of Student Computing). There is an ongoing problem with viruses being copied to the PC's; everyone suffers when this happens. Copying commercial software is breaking Federal law.

When you login to the campus network, you have access to a personal network folder (Happy) where you can store your files. You can also save to a USB drive.

- Lab Closing Procedure: There will be a 15-minute warning given prior to lab closing time. All printer queue's will be turned off 5 minutes prior to closing.
