Connectivity Issues

Network

Faculty and Staff Network

Faculty and staff network accounts provide access to network resources such as printing, shared folder resources on servers such as Socrates and Zeus, and Internet access. Network accounts are available to all faculty and staff members and are authenticated through the Servnet domain.

When you start up your computer, you are greeted with a network logon dialog box:

First, enter your Username, which is typically your first initial and your last name. If you are unsure of your username, please contact the Help Desk for assistance.

Next, enter your Network Password. Your password must be 6-8 characters in length and include at least one number. DO NOT share your password with anyone. About every six months you will be prompted to change your password in order ensure privacy and security for your network account.

If you have trouble logging into your network account, or if you have forgotten your password, please contact the Help Desk for assistance. If you logon unsuccessfully three times in a row, your network account may be locked out, for security purposes, and you will need to contact the Help Desk to have your password reinstated.

Student Network

Network connectivity is provided to all students. Network and wireless connections are available in all dorm rooms and across campus. Student connection provides access to Happy, the student network data storage, as well as the Internet and PLNU email.

  • To connect plug your ethernet cable into the left blue jack on the wall (usually by your desk) and into the back of your computer.
  • Ethernet cables can be purchased in the bookstore if your do not have one.

Students may call the ResTechs at x7378 (SERV) for further information.

Email

Your e-mail password is directly linked with your Network login, meaning they are the same password
. When using Outlook while logged onto the network, you will not need a separate login for e-mail.

If you use Outlook Web Access (OWA), or WebMail, your user name and password will be the same as your network user name and password.

CARS

Your CARS password is separate from any other password and is inherent to the CARS program. Although your CARS password may be the same as your network password, they are not related in any way . Your user name for CARS is the same as your Network user name. You may generate your own password. If you should forget your password at any time, you may contact the Help Desk to have it reset. Just as your network password expires about every six months, your CARS password will do the same. You may also be locked out of your CARS account after 3 unsuccessful login attempts resulting in an error that your account has been "disabled". This is a security feature of benefit to you. You may contact the Help Desk to regain access to your account.

Eclass

Your Eclass login is your Network login, meaning you use the same username and password as when you logon to the network
. If you experience any problems logging in to Eclass.ptloma.edu ; first, verify you can login to the network and login to Webmail and then contact the Help Desk for further assistance.
