802.1x Network Authentication Settings
With the upgrade of the campus network in the summer of 2005, several students were having difficulty connecting to the network. Students were receiving a message that their identity could not be validated. If you have any problems, uncheck the box indicated below. This option is located in the Network Connections Properties (applies only to Windows 2000/XP).
TCP/IP Configuration
In order to ensure that you connect to the campus network correctly, your computer must be configured with the proper TCP/IP settings. Check your settings in the Local Area Connections Properties window (open your network connections folder, right-click Local Area Connection, and select Properties). The following illustrations refer to Windows XP. In the Properties window, select 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' and click 'Properties'. In the window that pops up, ensure that the options 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically' are selected. Once this has been done, your computer should be able to access the campus ethernet network.
