Wireless Networks

PLNU IT Services currently offers both open and secured 802.11b/g wireless network access in various classrooms and in most student ‘common areas’ including the Ryan Library and the Nicholson Commons. The PLNU wireless network is NOT compatible with the 802.11a standard.

Computers with wireless network connections will see two networks, the “PLNU-StaffWiFi” network which is encrypted for staff and faculty use and the “PLNU-GuestWiFi” which allows for Internet access and is open to all users.

Staff, faculty and guests should contact the Help Desk at x4357 if assistance is required to connect to the wireless network. Only PLNU computers are allowed access to the secure staff network.

Students on campus should be able to connect to the PLNU-GuestWiFi automatically. If there are any difficulties, students on campus may check with the Tech staff (x7378) for specific instructions on how to configure their computers for wireless connection.

NOTE: Other than the PLNU-StaffWiFi and the PLNU-GuestWiFi, no other wireless networks should be available or set up.
